It's A Good Time To Celebrate
One year ago today, I pressed "Publish" on a little website with big dreams.
Dreams that you (& others) could easily find thoughtful gifts you knew were also doing good.
Gifts you could feel good about.
Dreams that artisans from marginalized communities around the world could preserve their traditional craft, reinvest in their families and communities to achieve economic self-sufficiency, and create strong and healthy societies that operate within what the environment can sustain.
Work they could feel good about.
Dreams that I could run a for-profit social enterprise with a think globally, act locally mindset encouraging strong sustainable economies here and abroad.
A business I could feel good about.
I wasn't sure what would happen when I hit "Publish". Like anything new, it was scary, exciting, and nerve-wracking. I was blown away by the amazing support from friends and family. And we're on our way to spreading the goodness with a focus on growing our reach next year (*cough cough* Spread the Word!).
Last year, you helped support hundreds of artisans from over 25 collectives around the world from Kyrgyzstan to Vietnam and from Egypt to Guatemala. Your purchases also allowed us to give extra donations to Plan Canada, One Tree Planted, Holiday Helpers, and the Myna Mahila Foundation.
This year, we hope to be able to grow our support to reach thousands of artisans, increase our donations to charitable causes near and dear to us, and continue sourcing ethical gifts to help you give thoughtfully and conveniently, as we continue to offer complimentary gift wrap & a personalized card. We're also excited to expand to the B2B world and have already started working with companies to offer good gifts to their customers with our corporate gifting arm.
BUT HERE'S THE BIG NEWS!
To kick off year two, we're very excited to launch a Good Gifts loyalty program. Consider it our good gift to you. :) With every purchase, you will receive 3% back (called Good Bucks) that can be used as a store credit to cover future purchases, shipping, and/or taxes! Yay!
If there's anything else we can offer that will help you give thoughtfully, please send us your feedback. We're always looking for ideas of products to bring in and ways to make your shopping experience as easy as possible.
I give my heartfelt thank you for all of your support over the past year and hope that you continue supporting Good Gifts in year two (and beyond).
